June 2023

June saw us record our first ever Chester winner. Capone ran in a class four contest partnered by Ben Curtis. It was a very well judged ride by Ben who kept him in a lovely position throughout and kicked on turning for home. Identifying inexpensive horses that take us to some nice nice meetings on a Saturday is exactly what it is all about. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day for all his connections.

We had a couple of other runners including The Muffin Man and Shahnaz. The both ran a little below expectations but I expect them to bounce back once we return them to their optimum conditions. Both look well handicapped and have shaped well in recent outings.

Petite Sioux continues to recover well from her little operation and will be racing again in July. I popped down to Phil Makin's yard last week to check on her progress and she seems to be in good spirits.

Kalabana will come back into work around mid July and we look forward to seeing how he has progressed for a summer at grass. It usually does the younger horses a world of good.
