May 2022

May was a busy month for the club with most of our flat horses now well into their seasons. Two of our horses hit the cross bar showing they are in good form.

Voodoo Doll was perhaps the closest to winning. He ran at Ludlow in an amateurs race ridden by Evan's daughter Ellie. She gave him a great ride and produced him at the last where he ran on strongly but was denied by just a little over a length.

Shahnaz was dropped back in trip after Clifford Lee felt she didn't quite get home over 1m 2f. She completely missed the break but finished very strongly to nick a place. Conor Beasley felt she would of finished much closer had she broken on terms. However, we were pleased as she continues to improve from race to race.

Finally we also added a new horse to our ranks with a trainer we have worked with before called Sam Allwood. Kalabana was purchased last week at the sales and looks a really exciting prospect. He is only four years old and was a really impressive third in his debut PTP against more experienced rivals. Our strategy is to continue buying younger less exposed horses that have the potential to be anything. Kalabana is pictured below, a big proper NH type.
