September/October 2022

A busy few weeks with the flat season drawing to a close and the national hunt season getting started in earnest.

Shahnaz ran another good race at Pontefract to finish to second and then backed it up with a creditable fifth at Hamilton where she was a little unlucky with another horse coming across her in the closing stages. She may run once or twice more before a well earned break.

Voodoo Doll had a rare try over fences and finished third. It was a bit of an experiment but he showed enough enthusiasm to think he could run well over hurdles or fences. It gives us another option with him at least. Sabbathical is returning to the line up for this season and shaped well on his seasonal debut at Ffos Las to finish fourth.

Kalabana made his debut at Uttoxeter. He is very much a work in progress and lacked fluency at a few of his hurdles. He is a big national hunt horse and is only going to improve with time and experience. He rates an exciting prospect going forward.

Petite Sioux came back in from her winter break and looks so much stronger. We will now begin the process of building her up to race fitness but so far so good.

Finally, we were delighted to purchase a Bungle Inthejungle Colt to go into training with Mark Walford as a replacement to Hulton Ranger. He looks a hardy two year old type with a smart pedigree. The dam Ask Not is by Invincible Spirit and this cross has already produced a listed placed horse in France.
